At Positive Lifting, we are honored to have contributed to the restoration and revitalization of The Highland, a historic landmark originally known as the Empire Dairy Company in Brooklyn. Designed by Theobold Engelhardt and Otto Strack, this remarkable building showcases Renaissance and Romanesque Revival styles while incorporating elements of Abstract Classicism and Secessionism.
Our mobile crane and knuckleboom services were instrumental in the restoration process, particularly in the careful handling and installation of materials necessary to preserve the building's unique architectural features, including the two stunning terracotta murals on its façade. These murals, depicting agrarian scenes, are believed to be the largest existing architectural installations created by the American Encaustic Tile Company and are a vital part of Brooklyn's artistic heritage.
Working closely with preservationists and contractors, we ensured that all operations adhered to the highest safety standards while maintaining the integrity of this cherished landmark. Our team played a crucial role in supporting the community’s advocacy efforts for The Highland’s landmark designation, achieved in 2017, solidifying its status as a significant part of Brooklyn’s architectural history.
