Positive Lifting is proud to have been awarded a prestigious contract by Fordham University in collaboration with ML Construction Inc. to assist in the renovation and restoration of the church façade, including the replacement and installation of iconic statues, gargoyles, and stone elements. This historic project, which involved working with sensitive materials and navigating tight spaces, demanded a level of expertise, precision, and care that only a specialized crane and rigging team like ours could provide.

Handling Sensitive Lifts with Expert Precision

Working on a century-old church meant we had to carefully maneuver around historical structures, including hundred-year-old trees, while preserving the natural environment. Positive Lifting’s team of master riggers and professional riggers were tasked with executing highly delicate lifts, ensuring that every statue, gargoyle, and stone was handled with the utmost care. Each rigging operation was unique, requiring customized rigging solutions to ensure precision and safety. We took extra steps to protect the surrounding environment, from safeguarding trees to ensuring that no structural damage occurred during the lifts.

Meticulous Planning & Safe Execution

Given the delicate nature of the materials—statues and gargoyles made of stone, iron, and other historical components—Positive Lifting's team carefully planned every lift. Custom rigging techniques were employed to safely handle each component, as no two pieces were alike. Every lift was executed efficiently and precisely, ensuring that we met tight timelines while maintaining the highest safety standards.

Throughout this 16-week project, we worked alongside ML Construction Inc. to remove old, deteriorating elements and replace them with new, high-quality statues and gargoyles, ensuring both the aesthetic integrity and structural safety of the building. As this work was carried out during school hours, we placed a heavy emphasis on public safety, ensuring minimal disruption to campus life while safeguarding everyone involved.

A New Look for Fordham University’s Church

Our contributions weren’t just about improving the building's appearance—we also played a vital role in making the church safer for the entire Fordham community. With each lift, we contributed to the preservation of an important piece of the university’s history while modernizing its exterior to reflect the timeless beauty and resilience of the institution.

The Positive Lifting Difference

The ability to handle such a specialized and sensitive project is what sets Positive Lifting apart from other crane and rigging companies. Many companies may claim to handle large and complex lifts, but few have the expertise and commitment to safety that we bring to the table, especially when the task requires such delicate care and precision. Positive Lifting’s team successfully completed every lift within budget, on time, and with the highest level of safety standards, ensuring that Fordham University’s church façade was not only more beautiful but structurally sound for generations to come.
